How we measure it
Sunbelt Drayage runs a Houston-based fleet in and out of the Port of Houston every weekday. Each tractor carries a Samsara GPS unit that logs the precise moment it crosses the terminal geofence going in and going out. The difference is dwell time — gate queue, in-terminal moves, and turning around with a chassis.
We average dwell across every Sunbelt truck that entered Bayport Container Terminalon each day, then publish the result here. Days with too few measurements to be statistically meaningful are excluded so one slow truck doesn't skew the average.
The data is from our trucks only — this is our operational telemetry, not data redistributed from Port Houston or the terminal operating system. Your mileage may vary depending on your steamship line, container type, and gate appointment.
Preview: the daily aggregation pipeline is wiring up this week. Numbers shown here are representative of typical Bayport dwell-time ranges; daily-fresh values from live Samsara data go live as soon as the cron lands.
