How we measure it
Sunbelt Drayage runs a Houston-based fleet in and out of the Port of Houston every weekday. Each tractor carries a Samsara GPS unit that logs the precise moment it crosses the terminal geofence going in and going out. The difference is dwell time — gate queue, in-terminal moves, and turning around with a chassis.
We average dwell across every Sunbelt truck that entered Barbours Cut Terminal on each day, then publish the result here. Days with too few measurements to be statistically meaningful are excluded so one slow truck doesn't skew the average — and weekends and Port Houston holidays are excluded entirely, since the gate never opens on those days.
